10 Characters that should return to General Hospital

It’s hard to believe but I did the math and I have been watching General Hospital for the past twenty five years. That’s a long time to be watching a show but that’s the beauty of daytime soaps, a dying art-form. I started watching General Hospital because my mom watched General Hospital. I wish I could remember the first episode I saw, but I’m know exactly why I kept watching General Hospital and that was because of Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson.)

Anyone who’s know me, know’s who my first celebrity crushes were growing up in the 90’s. It was Jonathan Jackson as Lucky Spencer, Jonathan Taylor Thomas as Randy Taylor on Home Improvement, and Taylor Hanson from Hanson. Reminiscing on first crushes, is amusing and hilarious and with several reboots from 90’s be revived, it gave me a idea.  I started to think about all of the characters on General Hospital that I was invested in and would love to see back in Port Charles. There was way too many characters that have come, left, or died in Port Charles, so here are my top ten picks!

10. Skye and Lila Quartermaine

We need more Quartermaine’s on the show, so why not bring Skye Quartermaine and her teenage daughter, Lila back to Port Charles? Lila was born October 24, 2006 so, in the real world, she’s fourteen which means nothing daytime soap world, so writers can age her if needed. However, Lila could easy fit in teen scene with Josslyn, Cameron, Trina, and Dev.  Skye always had a strong personality. It would be great to see Skye back on screen, trying to balance life, work, and her rebellious teenager daughter. I think it’s about time we have a rebellious teen on the show to stir up some drama!

9. Max and Milo Giambetti (Derk Cheetwood and Drew Cheetwood)

maxmilo

Max and Milo started off as minor characters as brothers who worked for Sonny as bodyguards. Max first appear on the show in 2002 and Milo appeared in 2006. Max and Milo were easy characters to quickly fall in love with as they brought heart and comedy to their characters. It was great to see side characters gradually get more involvement on General Hospital.  Their love interests are still on show and let me tell you I miss see Diane (Carolyn Lee Hennesy) and Max (Derk Cheetwood) as they were super entertaining, cute, and hilarious! We know Epiphany and Milo are a item and I hope they still are. However, Max and Milo has disappeared and I wouldn’t mind seeing there faces again as we need some fun and laughter back on the screen. So, why not bring these two back on screen because, I know I would love to see these brothers back in Port Charles.

8. Gia Campbell (Marisa Ramirez)

The second it was reveal that Taggert was Trina’s daughter, I instantly thought of Gia Campbell and was totally on board with seeing Gia again in Port Charles. I even had this crazy theory that Trina was Gia’s and Nikolas Cassadine’s daughter and for whatever crazy reason asked Taggert to raise her. Anything is possible, right? However, even if that’s not true, that makes Gia an aunt to Trina and if Trina and Cameron are potential a couple, why not bring back Gia since Elizabeth and her were never really the best of friends. She was engaged to Nikolas back in 2001, so Gia’s present in Port Charles could definitely cause some drama with Nikolas, Ava, Elizabeth and Franco story-line.

I would love see Gia back on screen, especially since it’s been revealed that Taggert isn’t really dead, only pretending.  Gia was mentioned briefly, so I think’s that a great opening for her to make an appearance once everyone learns Taggert is alive!

7. Drew Cain (Billy Miller)

GH-Billy-Miller1

Look, I understand characters come and go often on General Hospital. Over the years, I have learned not to get too attached since minor characters as they are fresh meat in getting killed off or written off the show. I don’t know if Billy Miller has any desire to return to General Hospital as Drew Cain but I am not fine with how General Hospital decided to write off Drew Cain. I knew in advance Billy Miller was leaving the show and taped his last show and after I watched it, I was confused on why the writers thought that would be a suitable exit or ending? There wasn’t even a funeral for Drew! Or a memorial, why not recast the Drew instead of killing him off screen?

Of course, it’s General Hospital so I don’t believe Drew is really dead. It seems once Oscar died, there wasn’t much left for Drew to do. However, I always liked the chemistry he had with Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) and could let he genuinely cared for Cameron, Aiden, and especially Jake, when he thought he was Jason and Jake’s father. However, when Steve Burton return to GH, they had to think of one crazy story-line to explain how Jake aka Jason was really Drew Cain the of long-lost twin brother of Jason Morgan who was brainwashed in thinking he was Jason. The whole situation is crazy however, I wouldn’t mind see Drew Cain back in Port Charles. Let’s not forget, he has a daughter with Sam, Scout and there’s a lot of unfinished business Drew needs to fix.  If anything, I feel like Billy Miller and Drew Cain need a better ending, so let’s try and fix this terrible ending.

6. Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst)

rick-hearst

Ric Lansing first appeared on GH back in (2002-2009) and returned in (2014-2016.) As much as I loved Lucky and Elizabeth together, I enjoyed Ric and Elizabeth as a couple, but like any couple on daytime soap; there are good times and the bad times like when Ric kidnapped a pregnant Carly and as revenge from Elizabeth’s miscarriage thought they would take Carly and Sonny’s child and raise the child with Elizabeth. Oh, General Hospital!

Where is Ric Lansing hanging out these days? I think Sonny’s half-brother needs to return to Port Charles. If anything, I would love to see more father and daughter scenes with Ric and Molly. Molly Davis Lansing is one of the most sane and smartest characters on the show and I think her love life is getting a little more complicated so it would be great to see Ric back in her life. Ric has plenty of history with some main characters like Sonny, Carly, Alexis, and Elizabeth, so there is definitively opportunity for Ric to cause drama!

5. Spencer Cassadine  (Nicolas Bechtel)

Nicolas Bechtel joined the cast of General Hospital in 2013 and brought the character Spencer Cassadine, Nikolas’s Cassadine son to life! Nicolas has grown into a talented young actor and created the perfect personality and wit to Spencer and quickly became one of everyone’s favorite kid characters on General Hospital. Nicolas is Spencer and it would be hard to see anyone else in the role as Spencer, as there is something special watching Nicolas grow up from a kid to a teenager.

Spencer (Bechtel) and Nikolas (Christopher) had a special chemistry and I told bought their father and son relationship. We saw him briefly, once it’s was revealed that Nikolas was alive and their reunion didn’t go as accordingly to plan for Nikolas, but I think it’s time for Spencer to return to Port Charles and help his father understand what’s really important in life. It’s time for Spencer to come back to Port Charles because I miss his personality and one-liners.

4. Morgan Corinthos (Bryan Craig) (Aaron Sanders)

There’s one simple rule on a daytime soap opera. If you don’t find the body of someone who’s supposedly dead, there’s a good chance of the possibility of that character coming back from the dead. When General Hospital decided to kill off Sonny and Carly’s son, Morgan I was shock and didn’t expect GH would go that far. I thought Aaron Sanders (did a great portrayal of Morgan from 2010- 2011, but wasn’t surprised the writers wanted to soar Morgan’s age in 2013 when he was recast by Bryan Craig.

Craig was able to bring an young adult Morgan to life and had some interesting story lines. However, I don’t even get me started on the whole Ava and Morgan plot. Anyways, Morgan was killed off in 2016, and everyone grieved of the lost of the beloved character. However, I’m not convinced Morgan is dead. I think it’s time to bring back a little shock to Port Charles and have Morgan reunite with his family! I would love to see Sonny and Carly reunite with their son and Michael, Josslyn, and Jaxs would be over-joyed!

3. Georgie Jones (Lindze Letherman)

georgie

Thirteen years later, I am still not over the death of Georgie Jones. Why? I will never forgive the writers who thought it would be a good idea to kill off Georgie Jones! When the writers decided Georgie would be one of the victims of the Text Message Killer, I was not fine. I’m still not fine! Lindze Letherman joined General Hospital back in 2002 and he first storyline was she had a major crush on Lucas Jones and was jealous because Lucas was more into Maxie. Oh, has a lot changed from 2002.

Instantly, I fell in love with Georgie & Dillon (Scott Clifton) as they became the new teen super couple. I always enjoyed the sister dynamic, and their relationship during their teen years between Georgie (Letherman) and Maxie(Robyn Richards) and it quickly came clear that Georgie & Dillon became more of the front story and there wasn’t too much for Richards to do as Maxie, who played her from 1994-2003.

Once, General Hospital decided to recast Maxie Jones with Kristen Storms in 2003, it became obvious over the years that Maxie became more of a front story character and Georgie fell more into the background. I still believe Georgie & Spinelli would make an insanely cute couple! It’s such a shame the show couldn’t figure out a way to keep the balance between Georgie and Maxie as I loved them equally.

It’s always a wonderful surprise to see Lindze guest appear as Georgie when Maxie (Kirsten Storms) needs her sister. I always loved the chemistry between the Lindze and Kirsten and they played sisters perfectly so, I think Maxie Jones needs her sister back!

2. Zander Smith (Chad Brannon)

zandersmith

Ever since William Lipton took over the role of Cameron Webber, I instantly thought why not bring back his biological father Zander Smith. Sure, he’s dead but dead people come back from the grave often on General Hospital. Having Zander Smith back in Port Charles would definitely create drama for Elizabeth and Cameron.  I mean, Zander was no saint, that’s for sure, he first appeared on the show as a drug dealer but quickly became the bad-boy who fell in love with Emily Quartermaine.

However, I feel like if Zander came back to Port Charles, the first thing he would want is to have a relationship with his teenage son. Bring on the teen drama right there, I could easily see a love-hate relationship between the two and I most definitely think Franco and Zander would not get along at all, so more drama which is perfect for soap opera.

Who else is on board with this idea? Let’s bring back Zander Smith!

1. Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson and Greg Vaughan)

It should not be much of a surprise to anyone who knows me that my number one pick is obviously, Lucky Spencer. Lucky is the main and sole reason why I started watching General Hospital and I have become way too invested in the fictional life of Lucky Spencer. When Jonathan Jackson left the show back in 1999, trust me I was heart broken just like Elizabeth Webber. I was a teenager and wondering why in the world would they get rid of Lucky Spencer? Over time, the role was recast by Jacob Young (2001-2003) and Greg Vaughan (2003-2009.) I never thought in a million years, I would see Jonathan Jackson return as Lucky Spencer but a miracle happened and I did not miss an episode from 2009-2011 once Jackson returned into the role he originated.

I will forever be a Lucky and Elizabeth fan because would love to see a happy ending for the two of them even if that doesn’t mean they end up together. Basically, Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) and Lucky (Jonathan Jackson) have this amazing acting chemistry. I honestly think, they make each other better actors. So, I miss seeing these two on screen together.

Last time Lucky Spencer was in Port Charles, was back in 2015 when he brought Jake back to Elizabeth. What a wonderful surprise, as I was beyond thrilled that Jake wasn’t really dead. I HATED when they killed off Jake, so I was thrilled when General Hospital decided to correct that barbaric and heartbreaking story-line. It’s time for Lucky to return to Port Charles. For one, he has children, that I refuse to believe that he would just abandoned. Yes, I say children because he might only have one biological child with Elizabeth Webber, Aiden. However, I’m pretty positive he adopted Cameron and basically raised him like his own son. He clearly loves Jake, there’s no question about that. Jackson might not be ready to return to General Hospital and I can respect that but it’s time for a recast. General Hospital recast Nikolas, so why not recast Lucky?

Greg Vaughan recently announced he’s leaving Days of Our Lives, so I’m thinking someone needs to jump on that fast and ask Vaughan to return, I always enjoyed him as Lucky (minus the whole Maxie affair story-line.) Bringing Lucky Spencer would be smart, as his half-brother recently came back from the dead, and I’m sure Lulu and Laura miss him. Most importantly, we can see Lucky interact with his son Aiden, as well as Cameron and Jake. Right now, I can easily come up with several ideas on how Lucky Spencer could return as he has history with almost every character on the show!
